Summary
When you set up email sending in the bLoyal Engagement Solution, you'll be asked to send from an address on a dedicated subdomain — for example, offers@engage.yourbrand.com instead of offers@yourbrand.com. This isn't an arbitrary formatting rule. It's required so bLoyal can properly authenticate your emails and protect your brand's core domain reputation. Skipping this step is one of the most common causes of emails landing in spam or failing to send at all.
What is the "engage" subdomain?
A subdomain is a prefix added in front of your main domain (e.g., engage.yourbrand.com is a subdomain of yourbrand.com). It's still "your" domain — you own it and it reinforces your brand — but mailbox providers (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc.) treat it as a distinct sending identity from your root domain.
Why bLoyal requires it
1. It protects your primary domain's reputation. Every domain builds up a "sender reputation" based on how recipients interact with mail sent from it — opens, clicks, unsubscribes, and spam complaints. Marketing and loyalty campaigns naturally have higher unsubscribe and complaint rates than everyday business email (invoices, password resets, internal correspondence). If both types of mail share the same root domain, a spike in campaign complaints can hurt deliverability for all your email — including things like transactional receipts or staff email. Isolating campaign sending on engage.yourbrand.com keeps that risk contained.
2. It's required for proper email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC). Mailbox providers use these DNS-based records to verify that an email claiming to be from your brand is actually authorized to be sent on your behalf. bLoyal needs to publish authentication records tied specifically to the sending subdomain so that:
- Your emails pass authentication checks instead of getting flagged as spoofed or suspicious.
- Your root domain's existing SPF/DKIM/DMARC setup (used by your website, other mail systems, etc.) isn't disrupted or conflicted with.
Without a dedicated subdomain, bLoyal can't safely add these records without risking your existing domain configuration.
3. It improves inbox placement. Mail sent from a properly authenticated, purpose-built subdomain is significantly less likely to be filtered into spam or promotions folders than mail sent from an unauthenticated or shared sending address.
4. It keeps your brand identity intact. Because the subdomain still contains your brand name (engage.yourbrand.com), recipients still recognize the sender as you — you're not sending from a generic third-party domain, which tends to look less trustworthy and hurts open rates.
